Innovation Challenge

Are you a university student or recent graduate (up to 2 years)? Do you have an innovative tech-enabled idea that will create impact in Bahrain and beyond? 🚀 💡

Join the Innovation Challenge, a four-week competition from June 19th to July 17th where you will develop your idea with experienced mentors and entrepreneurs and then present it to a panel of experts 🙌🏽

The prize is a summer internship with regional startup accelerator, Flat6Labs 🏆

The competition is organized by the Crown Prince International Scholarship Program Alumni Association (CPISPAA) in collaboration with Flat6Labs.

Timeline

19 June: Orientation

20 June - 10 July: IC Sessions

11 July - 16 July: Pitch Practice Week

17 July: Final Pitch

 

Time Commitment

Apart from the 2 sessions per week, you are free to work on your idea at the time that suits you. This will allow you to be able to continue other commitments you have, such as exams, projects, lectures, etc.   

 

Sessions

  • 2 sessions per week for 3 weeks

  • Sessions will cover topics such as ideation, product-fit, financial planning, and pitching

 

Mentors

At the beginning of the program, you will be paired with a mentor who you will meet with on a weekly basis. The mentor will guide you and assist you with refining your idea and presenting it clearly

 

Final Prize

The winner of the Innovation Challenge will win an internship with accelerator and venture capital firm Flat6Labs in addition to a tablet device, presented by the Innovation Challenge committee. All participants in the challenge will receive a certificate of participation presented by CPISPAA and Flat6Labs.

Applications are open for university students and recent graduates who have graduated 2 years ago.

1. Who is this competition for?

This challenge is designed for any university student or recent graduate up to two years based in Bahrain. 

2. What if my idea is not tech-enabled?

We encourage you to still apply to the program and we will study your application and idea.

4. What is the process of application?

All you need to do is fill out the application form in the link below. We will inform you if you have been selected to join the cohort. 

 

5. What is the expected program and time commitment?

We will confirm the final program before the start of the challenge. You can expect to be in workshops with mentors and entrepreneurs 2 days / week (Monday and Wednesday tentatively) and the remainder will be dedicated to you and your team to work on the feedback you received. There may be other events happening during the week which we will let you know of ahead of time. This is expected to be a full-time commitment.

 

6. What is the prize?

In addition to learning, the winner will get an internship offer to intern at one of Bahrain’s pioneer seed and early stage venture capital firms. You will be exposed directly to investors and see first hand how investment decisions get made and what it takes to be a successful entrepreneur and startup.
